Window Cleaning FAQ
Q: What is included in a window cleaning?
A: We clean the inside and outside of your windows as well as the tracks, frames, sills, and screens
Q: What is your method?
A: Each job will have individual variables that will determine the way we clean. Window size, type, and orientation , as well as the type of debris accumulated will determine how we approach your job. The specific goals and concerns of our customers will also affect the way the job is done. We may do your windows with hand tools ( window scrubbers, razors, squeegees and surgical rags), or Pure Water scrub and rinse brushes, or a combination of both. Our method is to cater our expertise and equipment to your specific needs. Every job and every client is a little bit different.
Q: Do you clean storm windows, windows with UV coating, skylights, glass partitions, greenhouses, or older historical windows and glass styles ?
A: Oh yeah. If its glass we can clean it.
Q: When is the best time of year to clean windows?
A: When you want them to look great! Windows are subject to the elements all year. Clean them at least once a year to keep them looking spiffy and understand that its an ongoing need. Life is dirty. We live around trees, insects, birds, dust, children, dogs, and rain. Some folks like to get on a schedule for a couple times a year. Some folks want to make their house look great to sell it. Some folks want to make a great impression on their visiting in laws. The decision of when to get windows cleaned is personal, and we will listen to your concerns to make sure you get what you feel is needed.
Q: Will my windows be totally pristine when you are done?
A. We guarantee the clarity will be significantly improved and every piece of glass will be given a thorough professional treatment. After we are done we go back and touch up any slight streaks or fingerprints, etc. and we leave sure that the glass looks the best it possibly can. Window imperfections such as excessive mineral buildup, scratches, smears of certain construction adhesives, and failed glass seals are issues that cannot be cleaned away. Some of these imperfections may become more noticeable once the glass is cleaned, especially in areas and time periods of strong sunlight. The age and quality of your windows determine how well they will clean up. That said, we absolutely GUARANTEE you will notice a positive difference in the overall look of your windows.
Q: I noticed the crew left the outsides of my windows wet and didn't dry them off. Won't that leave spots?
A: These water drops are pure, they have no minerals dissolved into them and they dry without leaving anything behind. We process this water from your home supply on site. The soft brushes we use gently agitate dust and debris, while the gentle stream of pure water fed through them carries the debris away. Once the glass is thoroughly rinsed it will dry clear.
Q: Are there any potential damage issues that may arise through the result of cleaning?
A: The most common damage issue is a broken storm window panel. Older and lower quality storms may be seized in their tracks and may take a lot of maneuvering and pressure in order to free. They also have to be picked up, moved outside, and stacked, then sorted and reinstalled(which again takes a lot of maneuvering). Sometimes one cracks. It happens regularly but not frequently. This is easily fixed at our expense by a local glass shop. The panel will be returned and reinstalled at your convenience and no money will be collected until this has happened.
A2: Though a fairly rare occurrence, sometimes we encounter the presence of a manufacturing defect known as fabricating debris. This defect creates a situation where glass fines embedded on the glass surface through poor manufacturing processes are freed up by cleaning tools and scratch the glass. We are trained to detect this defect and will immediately notify the customer and adjust our cleaning strategy to account for this problem should we encounter it.
Q: I just want the outsides cleaned. Can we do that?
A: Yes of course we can, however we warn you that you may be disappointed when the outsides are clean and the accumulated interior grime is put in full and total splendor. The price break for doing just the outsides is marginal as we still may have to come inside to remove and replace screens and this is done much more efficiently and thoroughly when interior window cleaning is part of the process. If you plan on getting just the outsides done and doing the insides yourself or getting your regular housecleaner to do them, be advised that homeowners and non-specialized house cleaners cannot achieve the clarity with Windex and paper towels that we can with our experience, methods, and tools.
